Essential Troubleshooting Guide for Your Ecamm Live Setup

We know technical hiccups can be frustrating, especially when you’re preparing to go live. Here’s your quick guide to resolving common Ecamm Live issues:

Camera/Microphone Problems?

Are you seeing a problem with one of your cameras, or hearing something weird in your audio? Try recording the same device in QuickTime Player! If the issue appears there, it’s likely a device or connection problem, not Ecamm Live.

Still not working? Try these steps.

  1. Try different USB ports on your Mac for a direct connection.
  2. If using a hub/dock:
    • Ensure it’s powered
    • Avoid connecting multiple cameras to the same hub
    • Use appropriate cables (not all USB-C cables support Thunderbolt!)

Interview Guest Connection Issues?

If guests can’t connect:

  • For individual guest issues:
    • Verify they have 5 Mb/s minimum upload speed
    • Ask them to try a different browser or device
  • If all guests have problems:
    • Toggle Interview mode off and back on
    • Restart your Mac
    • Close unnecessary applications and browser tabs
    • Quit cloud sync services like Dropbox

Experiencing Audio Issues?

When you're hearing double voices:

  1. Check the sound levels panel - only one input should move at a time
  2. Enable Echo Cancellation
  3. Use wired headphones or In-Ear Monitors
